Privacy Policy
In short
Klean runs entirely on your phone. No data leaves your device: the app does not even declare the Internet permission, which technically prevents it from connecting to any server. No account, no ads, no analytics, no sharing with third parties. If you buy Klean Pro, the payment is handled by Google Play, not by Klean (see “Buying Klean Pro”).
What the app reads on your device
- Your screenshots, in the "Screenshots" album of your gallery, to list them and show thumbnails. The other photos in your gallery are not read.
What the app stores, on your device only
- For each tracked screenshot: its file name, location, date, size, expiry date, state (pending, protected, in the trash, deleted), whether you kept it as a favourite, the dates it was trashed or deleted, and a visual fingerprint of the image (a series of numbers from which the image cannot be rebuilt), used to find duplicates.
- Your exception rules: the name or keyword you entered to protect screenshots.
- Your settings: language, theme, retention period, reminder and trashing preferences.
- Klean Pro: whether you bought it (yes or no), and the start date of the free trial if you started it.
- The statistics shown (screenshots deleted, space freed) are computed from this information alone.
This data is stored in the app's private storage. It is excluded from Google backup and from transfer to a new phone.
Permissions requested
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Photos | read your screenshots |
| Notifications | warn you before a screenshot expires |
| Media management (optional, granted in Android Settings) | move screenshots to the trash without the system asking again, if you chose to |
| Device start-up | reschedule your reminders after a restart |
| Google Play billing | buy Klean Pro through the Play Store |
Klean also checks in the background, a few times a day, whether new screenshots have appeared, in order to schedule their reminders. Nothing is deleted in the background.
Deleting your screenshots
A screenshot is never deleted behind your back. It first goes to Android's trash, where you can restore it for 30 days; Android then deletes it for good. A permanent deletion from the app only happens at your explicit request; Android also asks for its own confirmation, unless you have granted Klean media management in Android Settings.
Buying Klean Pro
Klean Pro is a one-time purchase made through Google Play's billing system. You pay in a Google Play window: Klean never sees your payment method, your email address or your Google account. The app talks to the Play Store app on your phone, not to the Internet, and only receives the state of the purchase; all it keeps is “bought: yes or no”. If you reinstall Klean, it asks the Play Store for that state again.
Google processes the transaction data under its own responsibility, in line with its privacy policy. SBSoft receives from Google the order information Google provides to developers, such as the order number, product, price, date and country, and uses it only for its accounting and for refunds.
Keeping and erasing your data
The app's data stays on your device as long as the app is installed. Uninstalling Klean, or clearing its data in Android Settings, erases everything it stored. Your screenshots themselves stay in your gallery.
SBSoft receives none of the data the app stores and therefore holds no copy of it: there is nothing for us to give you access to, correct or erase. The one exception, if you buy Klean Pro, is the order information described above: you can write to us about it at contact@sbsoft.studio; for the rest of the transaction, contact Google.
Children
Klean collects no data from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at the same address with its effective date. Should a future version of the app ever send any data off your device, it would only do so with your explicit consent, and this policy would say so first.
